Character Zero is male, 40ish, single, American, living abroad.

He works as a gardner at the zoo although he has a Master's degree in English literature. He speaks four languages and artificially increases his accent to appear as if his language skills are lower than they are.

He once flew to Paris to fix a leaky drain for a friend who was terrified of using her French to hire a handyman.

His flat is coal heated and very dark as it is on the ground floor in the courtyard of a 19th century house. The benefit of this flat is that he can sit directly outside his window in the courtyard and pretend he has a garden.

Scarred by an ex-relationship with a vegan, he eats meat every day. On days when he doesn't, he has psychological protein crashes in the evening.
